Incident Analyst FAQs
Answers to the questions we're asked most often.
Can I set notifications based on the severity of the event?
Yes. In the Config App, go to Type Maintenance. In the far-right column of Auto Assigned Lists → Notifications you'll see the Severity column. Click the label (None, Custom or All), then click the [ … ] icon to open the Edit Severity window.
Severity can be triggered on Actual or Potential. Pay attention to the Include events when Severity is Not Specified option on each tab, which controls what happens when users don't specify a severity.
Exceedance Notifications are different: they identify when more than a set number of events match certain criteria over a period of days or weeks.
Do upgrades affect customizations such as institution-defined values?
No. Upgrades are deployed so that no action is needed to keep your current configuration, unless it is absolutely unavoidable. Data entered into AEMS is never altered during updates, and new functionality is disabled by default until an administrator turns it on.
Does CCD provide "how to" help and toll-free support?
AEMS includes field-level help pages and an online User's Guide, and you can easily add your own how-to pages. Call us during business hours at 1.800.862.9939. Extended after-hours support is also available.
Can users change their password at any time?
Yes. Users change their password from the User Maintenance menu by entering their existing password and a new one that meets the administrator's requirements. Administrators can also set a new password for a user.
Can data access be limited by facility?
Yes. Each user's roles and rights determine which events they can access, by facility, department, category, phase, severity and confidentiality. Rights can cover a specific facility, its child facilities or all facilities, and likewise for departments.
Does AEMS support SSL encryption?
Yes, AEMS is compatible with 128-bit SSL encryption.
Can we manage security assignments ourselves?
Yes. Roles control which options a user can reach, and rights control which events they can access. Both are fully definable by your administrators.
Does AEMS use Active Directory authentication?
Yes. Users can sign in with their Windows Active Directory account. AEMS matches their AD logon to an AEMS account to apply their roles and permissions, so all users must first be loaded into AEMS.
Does the application need dedicated servers?
No, the servers can be shared with other applications. AEMS requires IIS and SQL Server, which can run on one server or on separate servers. For security we strongly recommend two separate servers.
Will AEMS keep up with new hardware and software standards?
CCD is a Microsoft Partner and tests AEMS on current versions of Windows, IIS and SQL Server as they are released. If a compatibility issue is found, supported clients are notified immediately.
Which operating systems are supported?
AEMS runs on Windows servers with IIS and SQL Server. Contact us for the current list of supported versions and browsers.
